A special seminar and support group for people grieving the loss of someone close. This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time. Each Grief Share session includes a video seminar and group discussion. During the schedule, a special meeting on November 19 will be held focused on "Surviving the Holidays".

Hosted by John Gilliland and Bonnie Fiscus, meetings are held every Monday, from September 10th through December 3rd at First Baptist Church, 1325 Chatburn Avenue, Harlan IA.

Harlan 100

To help raise funds for the Shelby County Trails Committee efforts of adding additional bike trails and walking trails to Shelby County, the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be holding the Inaugural Harlan 100.  This will be a 3-person bike team race around the Historic Downtown Square in Harlan, Iowa.  Bikes will be provided and each team will use identical bicycles for the race.  The key will be strategy of changing riders as all 3 persons of the team will be required to ride a set number of laps during the race.  There will be multiple age categories to enter, and proceeds from the event will support the Shelby County Trails Committee.  Early plans are to hold this event in June 2016.
