Attention ladies! Want to be involved in more outdoor activities and try things out without being intimidated by or out performing a man? We have an opportunity for you. On the evening of Friday, June 23 and all day Saturday, June 24 the Shelby County Conservation Board, Prairie Rose State Park (Iowa DNR), and the National Wild Turkey Federation are joining forces to offer a Women in the Outdoors weekend (WITO). The event will take place between Nishna Bend Recreation Area and Prairie Rose State Park. We will be offering a wide variety of activities such as trailer backing, yoga, Dutch oven cooking, shotguns, basic self defense, handgun selection/safety, GPS/orienteering, kayaking, wild edibles, wine tasting, archery, and some crafty session. Many of these sessions will be taught by women. Registration is open to any woman 14 years old and older. Registration is now open with a deadline of June 1st. Cost of registration is $100.
